Welcome to our Eriador Guide for the Midsummer Festival in the Lord of the Rings Online! This guide contains an overview of Midsummer in Eriador in LOTRO, as well as a comprehensive walkthrough of every Eriador quest! Navigate to our full Midsummer Festival guide for a complete Midsummer festival guide and to find Minas Tirith, Furtherholm, and Volume V guides.
While the primary Midsummer Festival activities take place in Minas Tirith with The Great Wedding and in Furtherholm for a tropical retreat, the summer festivities also extend across the classic regions of Eriador. The Free Peoples of Bree-land, The Shire, Ered Luin, and Thorin’s Hall have set up their own local celebrations that follow Aragorn and Arwen’s trend — weddings!
If you are looking for a break from the crowded Furtherholm or the grand bustling Minas Tirith, Eriador offers a nostalgic, peaceful, and notably less lag-heavy environment. With several quick daily quests spread across familiar festival hubs, it is a fantastic alternative for completing your overarching Midsummer wrappers.
Good news! — You don’t need a special introductory quest to start enjoying the Eriador festivities. Simply travel to any of the four classic regional festival hubs to find local NPCs offering Midsummer dailies.
Finding the Hubs: You can find the Midsummer quest-givers gathered at these familiar locations:
Bree-town: Inside the Prancing Pony and in the outdoor crafting market in West Bree.
The Shire: Just off to the side of the Party Tree (29.8S, 71.4W) and (30.1S, 71.3W).
Ered Luin (Duillond): Down by the Festival Garden (24.7S, 94.6W).
Thorin’s Hall: Downstairs inside the Thorin’s Hall Inn (entrance at 13.8S, 103.2W) and the Forge Hall in the northeast.
Level Requirements: Just like the rest of the Midsummer event, the Eriador quests scale directly to your character’s level, allowing any adventurer level 10 and above to fully participate.
Wrapper Progression: Every Midsummer quest completed in Eriador counts toward your overarching daily festival wrapper, In Celebration of Midsummer. If you only need one or two more quests to finish your wrapper for the day, the Eriador hubs are great for quickly knocking them out.
Ingredient Kits: Every Eriador quest gives one of the ingredient kits necessary for the crafting quests in the Houses of Craft in Minas Tirith (Midsummer). If you do not intend to partake in those, you can safely give these kits away, put them in the Auction Hall, or simply destroy them!
Regional Activities: The quests here are heavily themed around local cultures celebrating the wedding from afar — expect to be collecting materials for floating flower lanterns, assisting Hobbits with their usual mischief, and shining Dwarven beards to get them in the holiday spirit.
The Less Lag Route: Minas Tirith is notoriously demanding on PCs, especially during busy festivals. If you are experiencing crashes or heavy lag in the White City or the compact Furtherholm, doing your daily activities via the Eriador hubs is a fantastic, stress-free alternative.
Navigating Eriador: Keep in mind that you will have to navigate to each of the Eriador festival areas on your own — be sure to utilize Stable-masters, your Milestone, and if you are a Hunter, Warden, or Mariner, your own travel skills! Even if you don’t use these travel options, traveling can be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the gorgeous landscapes of LOTRO’s Middle-earth!
Token Maximum Reminder: Just like the rest of the event, any tokens earned here apply to your strict currency cap of 250 Midsummer Tokens per character. Keep an eye on your wallet and be sure to navigate to Minas Tirith or Furtherholm to spend them before you hit the limit!
Sharing your killer beard routine throughout Middle-Earth, one dwarf at a time.
Skori can be found in the Thorin’s Hall Inn, which is inside Thorin’s Hall, but down the stairs on either side of the central corridor, or from the outside by cutting through the Festival Arena, accessed through the small door to the left of the main gate to Thorin’s Hall.
The dwarves in need of beard-shining are found all throughout the hall, even deep in the crafting hall by the forges. Dwarven holidays are just different, I guess. (map coming soon!)
Dwarves are the quintessential crafters of Middle-Earth, so I’m kind of impressed this supply list doesn’t include any hot glue or glitter.
Slagin is inside Thorin’s Hall, in the Forging Hall, which is north of the other crafting stations set up in the eastern wing.
The bones can be gathered from the bears and lynx and cave claws that lie between Thorin’s Hall and the Silverdeep Mine.
The Silverdeep Mine is to the east of Thorin’s Hall at (14.3S, 101.7W).
Just get the beeswax. That’s all? No hive smoker? No protective gear? No magic Elven bee-soothing routine? Okay, Gairil, you’re the expert….
Gairil is out on one of the piers at the Celondim Docks, at (28.2S, 91.9W).
The beehives are situated along the road to the vineyard.
The first you will encounter if you are following the road is on the right side at (26.1S, 94.0W).
Further up the road and on the left you will find one at a tree (but still on the ground) at (26.5S, 94.3W).
On the right, there is one hidden in the middle of a group of four trees at (26.2S 94.6W).
To the left of the path, also near a group of four trees, is another at (26.6S 94.6W).
Finally, there will be another to the right of the path as you reach the top of the hill at (26.4S, 94.7W).
Ready to tie the knot? How about ten of them? …What’s that look for?
Celairel is in Duillond, outside the festival garden at (24.7S, 93.0W).
Thorian is crafting away by the workbench at (23.9S, 93.0W).
The bolt of silk cloth you need is in Brethilas’ spot at the vendor terrace that overhangs the cliff at (23.9S, 92.6W).
To cut the silk into ribbons, use the small workbench next to the proper crafting workbench. Just right-click to interact with it.
Dringlaer is at the forge just north/uphill from Thorian.
The perfect blossoms are scattered in the grassy areas all around Duillond.
To construct the cords, interact with that odd little workbench again, using right-click to interact with it.
Poor Rona is overwhelmed with wedding-related orders. And most of them are probably those overly ornate or cutesy serving platters and gravy boats that you get as wedding gifts and then never use.
Rona Turner is a little inside the Bree West Gate, at the set of crafting stations just off the main road at (29.6S, 52.3W).
Maud Tatter is sitting in front of the Weapons and Armour shop in Bree, south of the Boar Fountain at (31.1S, 51.0W). She also seems hard at work, probably making those overly ornate lacy quilts and tablecloths that you get as wedding gifts and then never use.
The willow branches are near the willow tree that’s by the pond just beyond the South Gate at (33.0S, 49.6W).
The pine logs are in the fields just north of Bree around (28.8S, 53.0W).
The clay is all around the banks of the Everclear Lakes around (26.8S, 54.1W).
I think some of these Midsummer revellers are a little over-filled, Butterbur, if you catch my drift….
Barliman Butterbur is behind the bar in the Prancing Pony. (Where else?)
The folks dancing on the tables are mostly in the main room, though there can also be someone table-dancing in the kitchen. Who are they showing off for in there?
The mugs really are scattered about everywhere, on the common room tables, back in the kitchen, and even in the hallways leading to the guest rooms. Delete-targeting can be helpful to differentiate those that count for the quest from the general table clutter.
The “Sneaky Hobbit”. The otherwise unnamed inventor of the “uninvitation”.
The Sneaky Hobbit is by the Party Tree at (29.8S, 71.4W).
The neighbors she wants to (not) invite are all around the nearby Hobbiton, and a few of them are moving targets.
There’s one up the hill to the north by Bag End, presumably a Sackville-Baggins, at (29.4S, 71.3W).
One is by the fireworks set-up just south of the Party Tree by (30.0S, 71.6W).
Just down the hill south of the Party Tree, walking along Bagshot Row, is another at around (30.2S, 71.4W).
East of the Party Tree, on the other side of the road by the farm fields, there’s another invitee taking a stroll around (30.3S, 70.9W).
Another is walking around by Dudo Chubb and his task board around (31.4S, 71.3W).
Finally there’s one walking by the Ivy Bush Inn around (31.4S, 71.0W).
That’s a… unique bouquet.
Vinca Pott is crouched near the hedge wall bordering the Party Tree festival grounds at (30.1S, 71.3W).
Her pungent flowers are in the basket next to her. Once you pick up some flowers, you need to reach two tables under the Party Tree without being seen by any NPCs labeled “Caltha’s Helpers”. You’ll notice these NPCs are marked on your minimap as eyes. Just avoid getting too close to these as you look for the empty vases.
