LOTRO Lore-master Class Guide, Builds, & Resources

The Lore-master is a free class available to all LOTRO players. Inspired by Elrond Halfelven with a sprinkle of inspiration from Gandalf and Radagast, Lore-masters are powerful spellcasters in tune with the natural world. They combine ancient knowledge of elements with a fierce bond to animal companions. Lore-masters may specialize to focus heavily on their animal pets to inspire and buff allies, forego their animal friendship entirely in favor of devastating elemental spellcasting damage, or maintain their pet bond while honing their crowd control to debilitate foes in a dedicated support role.

Why Play a Lore-master?

You should choose a Lore-master if you love complex, pet-based gameplay and dictating the flow of battle. They are the undisputed kings of crowd control (CC) and debuffing, capable of stunning groups of enemies, blinding archers, and severely weakening a boss’s defenses. A great Lore-master is a game-changer in any Fellowship, effortlessly shifting between damage, utility, and off-healing to keep the group alive through the toughest encounters.

Weapons & Armour

As scholars of ancient secrets, Lore-masters wear Light Armour, keeping them nimble while they weave their elemental magic. They traditionally wield a Staff as their primary weapon, which channels their fiery and lightning-based skills. At higher levels, they learn to dual-wield by pairing their staff with a one-handed sword, perfectly echoing the iconic fighting style of Gandalf the Grey.
