LOTRO Minstrel Class Guide, Builds, & Resources

The Minstrel is a free class available to all LOTRO players. Inspired by Lúthien Tinúviel, Minstrels are a beacon of hope, using the power of song and speech to weave magic on the battlefield. Through a mechanic known as Ballads, Cries, and Calls, they build up powerful Anthems that shape the flow of combat. Minstrels may specialize their music to be restorative in nature, acting as premier healers to boost their allies, or they may let their light and hope echo deep into foes to maximize their tactical damage.

Why Play a Minstrel?

You should choose a Minstrel if you enjoy being the heart and soul of a group. They are widely considered one of the best and most accessible healers in Middle-earth, capable of keeping entire Fellowships alive through the most challenging encounters with potent burst healing. Even as a solo player, a damage-focused Minstrel is incredibly formidable, able to shout down enemies from a distance while easily healing themselves through any trouble.

Weapons & Armour

As traveling musicians and storytellers, Minstrels wear Light Armour to remain unhindered while they perform. Their true weapons are their instruments—lutes, harps, drums, and flutes—which they use to cast their spells. However, for physical defense, they can equip a one-handed weapon (such as a sword, club, or dagger) alongside a Light Shield, giving them surprising survivability when the enemy breaks through the front lines.
